AOINEKO RELEASE AWARD WINNING DEBUT FILM

Fragile Machine Arrives on DVD After 4 Years in Production

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – March 15, 2005 – After international art honors from Canon, Acer, Rockstar Games, NYU, French high-fashion designer Thierry Mugler, and museums around the world, Phoenix-based animation studio Aoineko have released their debut film, the CG anime opera Fragile Machine.

The film, made mostly in the US with additional production taking place in Taiwan and Japan, merges CG and music in a new method of postmodern storytelling. Shunning dialogue and narrative structure, it trades the stock of traditional cinema for a hypnotic and nonlinear examination of humanity's roots and future set to a blinding rock/electronica score produced by Aoineko themselves.

Prior to its official release, Fragile Machine had already won the “Directors' Choice: Best Animated Film” Award at the Sedona International Film Festival, as well as being featured as an official selection at the “Taipei Future Imprint” festival.

The film has been released on DVD on its official website (www.fragilemachine.com) and in addition to special features, includes subtitles in English, Japanese, French, and Chinese. As a nod to their foreign fans, Aoineko have opted to release the film region free.

ABOUT AOINEKO: Founded in 2000 by American animator/musician Ben Steele and Taiwanese female vocalist X, Aoineko gained media attention for groundbreaking digital artworks like superelectronic for Canon/Rockstar Games and Sentosa Mikano for Rockstar Games/Ars Electronica. They have been honored to meet through the success of their work luminaries such as Spain's Queen Sophia and Academy Award winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. In 2004 they relaunched their site (www.aoineko.com), by then a staple of the digital underground.
